Especially during this time of the year, mosquitoes seem to enjoy visiting our yards and gardens, so repelling them can easily become our top priority.
Apart from the painful itchy bites, they can also bring illnesses.
Most of us think of providing a ready-made repellent purchased from the store. But these sprays and ointments contain a toxic chemical (diethyltoluamide), which very efficiently cope with all unwanted insects, but can cause skin problems such as irritation, redness, rash, pimples, etc.
Fortunately, even though the different species have different activity patterns and feeding preferences, they all share the same basic lifecycle and habitat preferences.
The following recipe for homemade mosquito repellent will save your summer and help you prevent those annoying itchy mosquito bites and the effect lasts up to 24 hours:
10 drops of lemon eucalyptus oil
15 drops of lavender oil
10 drops of mint oil
1/4 cup of lemon juice
In a 16oz bottle, mix all the ingredients listed above, and fill it with water. Shake the bottle well and spray the entire body before going outside.
Now you can enjoy the warm summer nights, as mosquitoes won’t spoil them anymore!
